How to Configure Password Options for Customers in Magento 2

Password is a single key that clients must use to reach their accounts in your store, but it is unlucky if the customer forgot his Password. With Magento 2, you can configure password alternatives for those customers to assist them to retrieve their passwords without getting any further issues.

From the backend, you will set the email template including the reminder email and a forgotten email with the password regenerate link. People who reset the password are the clients or store admins depending on the configuration of your store.

Set Password Alternatives for Customers in Magento 2

  • In the Admin Panel, click on the Stores > Settings > Configuration.
  • On the sidebar, under the Customers tab, choose Customer Configuration.
  • Click on the Password Options,
    • Select the Forgot Email Template that is transferred to customers if they forgot their password.
    • Select the Remind Email Template that covers the password hint to send to the customers.
    • Select the Reset Password Template that is forwarded to the customers conducted by a link for the reset of their password.
    • Select the Password Email Sender whose name will show on the forgotten and remind email notifications.
    • Set the termination of the password recovery link in the Recovery Link Expiration section.
    • Empower only stores admin to modify customer password when selecting Yes for Require admin user to edit user password option.
  • Save Config to complete.
